Finish the book of Genesis!

It is good to have finally finish reading the entire book of Genesis. It had been a source of constant encouragement to me. The final section of Genesis from Chapter 46 to 50, saw the death of Israel, formely known as Jacob, and thereafter Joseph...

The verse that struck me was in Genesis 50:20, "And as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive." Remember that Joseph's brothers actually sold him to the Ishmaelites that came from Gilead on their way to Egypt. However, God used this injustice for the good of Joseph's family. For through this event, God mold Joseph to become the ruler of Egypt, only below that of Pharaoh...

For those of us undergoing trials and tribulation, let us not be discouraged by our present circumstances and look to God, not to man. Casting our dependence upon Him. "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for Iam gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My load is light." Matthew 11:28-30.

Tomorrow, I shall read the book of Philippians. Cheers to all and goodnight. Time to hit the books again...

Written on 20th of August 2003

I just read a passage form the bible and I hope that this passage would encourage all of you who may have lost a loved one, be a friend or a family member, as it has greatly encouraged me.

13 But we do not want you to be uniformed brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God wil bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep.

16 For the Lord Himself will desend from heaven with a shout, with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.

18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

The passage above is taken from 1 Thessalonians 4:13 - 18. May this be an encouragement to all of us who have our loved ones passed away and yet they have believed in Christ for we shall get to see them once again and let us not grieve.

However, let us be even more fervent to reach out to those around who have yet been saved, even those of our friends that have backslided that we enourage each other, fulfilling the Great Commission, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptiszing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19 - 20.

May we all too, continue to demostrate love towards everyone in the SF, the church and to everyone around us, that we maybe a good testimony to everyone around being the light to the lost and dying world around us. For what are we if we can't even uphold and love each other in the SF with Christ's love? Are you not commanded that "A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know you are my disciples, if you have love one another." John 13:34 - 35.

May revival break out from each and everyone of us. That we make our lives right with God and live a life pleasing to Him. May the Lord find us faithful.

Harlow, I would just like to share this flash called, Duty by Dong Haeng with all of you as it has greatly encouraged me. This was sent to be by a very good friend of mine.

As I was watching it, I was encouraged by it. Remember in Hebrews 12:1 - 3? "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary and lose heart.

Let us then run the race with patience, that our lives be a testimony to those around us. That we do not grow weary and lose heart, looking at Christ and His wonderful example. Even though trials and tribulations would come our way, we would not lose heart. "Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him." James 1:12.

I do pray that all of us would learn to love God more each day and demostrating love to each one in the SF. That we would depend on the Holy Spirit daily. "I urge you therefore, brethen, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:1 - 2.

May we continue to grow and walk closer with God. May we be the Chrisitians God wants us to be. "Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preferance to one another in honor; not lagging behing in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, perservering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.Bless those who persecute you; bless and curse not. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Never take you own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengence is Mine, I will repay," said the Lord. But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:9 - 21.

May we be as tools used by Christ pointing others to Him. "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under the foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck-measure, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:13 - 16.

I pray that the Lord would watch over us, that through each and everyone of us, we would grow to be like Him, that when we meet Him in heaven, God would say, "Well done, good and faithful slave; you were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master." Matthew 25:23.

"That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience." Titus 2:2 KJV

An exposition with practical observation of the epistle of Paul to Titus. This Epistle of Paul to Titus is much of the same nature with those to Timiothy; both were converts of Paul and his companions in labours and sufferings; both were in the office of evangelists, whose work was to water the churches planted by the apostles, and to set in order the things that were wanting in them: they are vice-apostles, as it were, working the work of the Lord as they did and mostly under their direction, thought not despotic and arbitary, but with the concurring exercise of their own prudence and judgement.

Here the verse is instructing Titus, who is in this case the younger man in comparsion to some of the new Chrsitians who are just converted are older than him in terms of age, to teach the older men in the church.

Firstly, that the aged man be sober, not thinking that the decays of nature, which they feel in old age, will justify them in any inordinacy or intemperance, whereby they are conceit to repair them; they must keep in measure in things both for health and for fitness, for counsel and example to the younger.

Grave; levity is unbecoming in any, but especially the aged; they should be composed and stayed. grave in habit, speech and behaviour, how unbeseeming in their years!

Temperate. moderate and prudent, one who governs well his passions and affections, so as not to be hurried away by them to any thing that is evil or indecent.

Sound in the faith, sincere and stedfast, constantly adhering to the truth og the gospel, not fond of novelties, nor ready to run into corrupt opinions or parties. Those who are full of years should be full of grace and goodness, the inner man renewing more and more as the outer decays.

In charity or love, this is fitly joined with faith, which works by, and must be seen in love, love to God and men, and soundness therein. It must be sincere love, without dissimulation: love for God for himself, and of men for God's sake.

And in patience, aged persons are apt to be peervish, fretful, and passionate , and therefore need to be on their guard against such infirmities and temptions. Faith, love and patience are three main Christian graces, and soundness in these is mush of gospel perfection.

We are all to learn from one another and we are accountable for our own actions that we took. Let us all be humble and love each other with Christ's love. Remember the example set to us by Jesus in John 13: 5 - 17.

5: Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with which He was girded.

6: And so He came to Simon Peter. He said to Him, "Lord, do You wash my feet?"

7: Jesus answered and said to him, "What I do you do not realize now but you shall understand hereafter."

8: Peter said to Him, "Never shall You wash my feet!" Jese answered him "If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me."

9: Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

10: Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet but is completely clean, and you are clean, but not all of you."

11: For He knew the one who was betraying Him, for this reason He said, " Noy all of you are clean."

12: And so when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments, and reclined at the table again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?

13: You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am.

14: If then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.

15: For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.

16. Truely, truely I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master; neither is one who is sent greater than the one who sent Him.

17: If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them."

Let us all remember these words and remember the wisdom of God. "Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For consider your calling, brethen, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things that are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God." 1 Corinthians 1:25 - 29.

Let us all surrender ourselves and present ourselves as living sacrifices, that we listen to and depend upon the Holy Spirit, that revival might break out and through us, God may be magnified and glorified.

Faithfulness of God

Genesis 37:2 "Joseph, when seventeen years of age was pasturing the flock with his brothers while he was still a youth, along with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph brought a bad report about them to their father."

Genesis 41:46 "Now Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt."

As I was reading the Bible in the book of Genesis, which is the 1st book of the Bible, these 2 verses struck me. By the time God fulfilled the dream that Josephs had, he was already 30 years old and a time of 13 years have lapsed...

In God's time, he would make everything perfect. Did not the Lord say that "And we know that God causes all things to wor together for the good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28. Let's us all not be discouraged even in the times of our trials! Cheers!
